Tongan Fellowship

The Tongan Fellowship has met at Anchor Park since 1978. Many members of the Fellowship are also members of Anchor Park and actively participate in both communities. Several of the Tongan leaders and Lay Speakers are dynamic speakers and are available to speak to other groups.

The Tongan Choir provides music for all Tongan Services and once a month for the 11:00am worship service. They also provide music and dancing for other churches, Alaska Conference meetings and special occasions.

Tongan Youth meet as a group for a variety of activities during the week.

Worship services are held on Sunday afternoons at 1:00pm in the sanctuary.

Members of the Tongan Fellowship are part of the large population in Anchorage (and Alaska) who have come here for work opportunities. The Kingdom of Tonga includes about 150 islands in the heart of Polynesia in the South Pacific, east and north of New Zealand. Europeans discovered the islands in the early 17th century. Tongans have embraced the principles of Christianity, brought to them by missionaries of several faiths, particularly Methodists and Catholics.
